Questions being asked on the Tour.
(Always a work in progress. Please help with aswers if you know!)
About the NSTP Tour:
Q: Where did the idea of the tour come from?
A: It was inspired by a strong desire to see the country while doing something that contributed to a greater good.
Q: How is the tour funded?
A: It is self-funded.
Q: How much is it costing?
A: One of the principles of the tour is to harness existing community assets. This includes people's capacity to organize in their own communities. So -- I ask them to find a location for the tour to hold a meeting and also to promote it locally. Other costs are minimal as daily food expenses would occur in my life and I am travelling by bus as much as possible.
Q: Bus? Why by bus?
A: First -- it is cheap. Second, it makes for a way to save a night's accomodation by taking overnight buses. And third, it has a slighter less impact on the environment. I am travelling on a Greyhound bus pass ($268 for 15 days of non-stop travel with my Hostel International discount).
Q: Where do you stay?
A: I am catching up with old friends or connections to "couch surf" the nights. I also will stay at hostels where possible -- and the overnight buses!
